"Students must be trained in the healthcare technologies and methods that will be relevant by the time they complete their specialist degree — that is, in six to eight years or more. Such training is only possible in research centres where the technologies of tomorrow are concentrated. At the same time, instruction in these new technologies must go hand in hand with direct bedside training, so that students can apply and refine them in practice."
